Massage Therapy

What Is Massage Therapy?

Massage is a well-known therapy that uses pressure to activate the spindal cells in the muscles. These cells act like mini springs and control muscle tension. When pressure is placed on the muscle, they send the signal to the brain to tell the muscle to relax.

Massage therapy has a host of health benefits, some of which are listed below.

What Are the Benefits of Massage?

Studies continue to prove the many benefits of even a single massage. The healing power of touch, that many of us are missing in our busy lifestyle, plus the relaxation and stress relief are just the tip of the iceberg.

Some of the health benefits of massage include releasing muscle tension, reducing pain, insomnia (especially when related to stress), increasing endorphins (our happy drugs), headaches, stress and anxiety, Massage improves posture, lowers blood pressure, increases the range of motion and more.

Our well trained therapists will take your medical history and provide a massage treatment specifically for your individual needs.

Types of Massage Available

Deep Tissue and Sports Injury

Deep tissue massage is excellent for any injury as well as muscle tension, stress, anxiety, headaches and more. Using warm up techniques to begin, the therapist will prepare your muscles to be massaged into submission.

Deep flowing strokes, and held pressure encourage your muscles to let go and relax, returning your body to homeostasis.

Hot Stone Therapy

Apart from feeling absolutely wonderful, hot stone massage stimulates healing in the body in various ways. Heated volcanic rocks are placed in specific areas of the body (including acupuncture points) to heat, relax and prepare the body for massage. This healing heat penetrates into the body increasing blood flow, which provides precious nutrients and removes toxins and wastes.

Hot stones can also be used as part of the massage. With Swedish strokes they warm and loosen up the tightest and most stubborn muscles.

Swedish Massage

Using long flowing strokes Swedish massage is the perfect way to relax, destress and revitalize the body. This massage is excellent for deep relaxation where you can leave all the stress behind.

I get massage therapy from Denise and she is incredibly gifted with healing hands. We instantly connected and I consider her more of a friend than just my massage therapist. She uses several different massage techniques and she is able to feel the tension in my body without me even telling her. She is truly amazing at what she does and I would not trust my body to anyone else.read more
